Pierre is South Dakota's capital, one of the smallest capitals in the country, while Sioux Falls is many times its size. South Dakota became the 40th state in 1889, on the same day as North Dakota and with the same shuffled paperwork that left the order between the two deliberately unknown. It has a single at-large congressional district and 3 electoral votes, the constitutional minimum. The state also holds a useful study aid for the history questions: the faces carved at Mount Rushmore are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt, and the first three of those come up repeatedly on the test.
