Citizenship Test Answers for Georgia
Four of the 128 civics questions depend on where you live. Here is how to answer them if you live in Georgia.
62. What is the capital of your state?
Answer for Georgia
Atlanta
This is the one state-specific answer that does not change. The three below change with elections. Every name on this page is checked each night against the congressional record and, for governors, two independent public records, and a name is left out rather than printed when the sources disagree.
23. Who is one of your state's U.S. senators now?
Answer for Georgia now
- Jon Ossoff
- Raphael G. Warnock
You only need to give one of these names.
Georgia has two U.S. senators, like every state. You only need to name one of them. Senators are elected to six-year terms, so this answer changes; give the name of a senator serving on the day of your interview.

29. Name your U.S. representative.
Your representative depends on your congressional district, not just your state, so it is different for two people living in the same city. Look it up by ZIP code.

Residents of territories with nonvoting Delegates or Resident Commissioners may provide the name of that Delegate or Commissioner. Also acceptable is any statement that the territory has no (voting) representatives in Congress.
61. Who is the governor of your state now?
Answer for Georgia now
Brian Kemp
Governors are elected and change, so answer with whoever is serving on the day of your
interview. Your state government's official .gov website is the reliable
place to check.
Background on Georgia
Atlanta is Georgia's capital and its largest city, but it is the fifth place to hold the title, after Savannah, Augusta, Louisville and Milledgeville; the seat moved to Atlanta in 1868 during Reconstruction. Georgia is one of the thirteen original states and became the 4th state in 1788 when it ratified the Constitution. It has 14 congressional districts and 16 electoral votes, one of the larger delegations in the House. Atlanta also connects to the history questions: Martin Luther King, Jr. was born there and is buried there, and the test asks what he is famous for. Of the four answers on this page, only the capital stays the same from year to year.
This background section is written by US Citizenship Test Practice. It is not part of the USCIS question list, and it names no senator, representative or governor itself: those names change with elections, so they appear only in the answers above, which are checked every night.
